Junior School, Sport

On Thursday, March 26, our Junior School Cricket Team competed at the Super 8 Cricket Gala Day at Reed Park in Dapto, playing against other CSSA schools from the Illawarra.

It was a beautiful day full of lots of energy and excitement.

Our first game was against ICS, and with some excellent bowling and fielding we kept them to 43 runs. Good bowling by Jack R, Ellie S and Luke N kept ICS’s runs down. Aaron H and Luke N opened the batting for us and put on an unbeaten 40 runs before Aaron retired. This set us up for an easy win for our first game by all 8 wickets.

Our second game was against Nowra Christian School. We bowled first again and it worked in our favour, as Nowra finished with only 34 runs. There was some superb bowling by Lochlan J, taking 3 wickets in his over for no runs. Riley F also had excellent bowling figures in his over with 1 wicket and 1 run scored.
Jack A and Riley opened the batting for us and got us off to a good start with lots of quick running between the wickets. Ellie S and Leo B continued our good work when the openers were dismissed. We reached the target score easily.

Our final game was the grand final against Shellharbour Anglican College. Again, we bowled first and took regular wickets. One of their batters lasted the entire innings and was smashing the ball everywhere. We took all the other wickets and were chasing 42 to win.
Jonathan J bowled excellently in his over of 1 wicket and 1 run. Jack R got us off to a great start, scoring 18 quick runs, and with the help of Luke N, got us to the total.

A special thanks to Secondary students Joel and Kai who came and umpired/scored all day. You helped the day run smoothly and were very professional with your decisions and manner. Well done!

Congratulations to the Junior School Cricket Team for playing in an excellent manner. It was a good opportunity to show our skills but also playing in a way that honoured God. I am proud of your effort over the day.

I look forward to playing in the State Knock-Out competition later this year.
