An exciting development update

An exciting development update

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” — Psalm 127:1

As a school community, we are continually reminded that all we have is a gift from God’s gracious provision. From the students entrusted to our care, to the staff who serve faithfully, and the families who partner with us – everything rests upon his goodness and grace. We rightly give thanks for these common blessings – our buildings, our resources, and the growth we are experiencing – but we must not lose sight of the greater gift: the Lord Jesus Christ and the eternal life we have through Him. In comparison, all else fades.

In Christian education we often say that “all truth is God’s truth.” It is also true that every good gift comes from him. As we look ahead to the next stage of our school’s development, we do so with gratitude, recognising that the resources before us have been entrusted to us by God. While careful planning and skilled work are essential, our desire is to honour him in all that we build. We pray that these spaces will not simply meet practical needs, but will be places where students grow in faith and in their knowledge of Him.

With this in mind, we are pleased to share that we have almost concluded the tendering process and look forward to appointing a builder by the end of Week 9. We are hopeful construction will commence on the new toilet block, and the renovations of our existing bathrooms and change rooms into classrooms. These two classrooms will have been designed with the flexibility to also serve as a performing arts space — broadening opportunities for both learning and creative expression.

This represents an important step forward for our school. The additional classrooms will strengthen our capacity to provide high-quality education, while the performing arts space will create new opportunities for students to develop their gifts, work collaboratively and grow in confidence.

In the months ahead, we will invite our community to partner with us in this project through a tax-deductible donation. We remain deeply grateful for your ongoing support and the shared commitment we have to the life of the school.

As we move forward, we do so with confidence—not ultimately in the plans we have made, but in the God who has faithfully provided, and who continues to do so.

Prep celebrates Community Helper Week

Prep celebrates Community Helper Week

During Week 7, Prep students celebrated a community helper-themed week, with visits from emergency services, health professionals, builders and more!

Students welcomed the RFS, nurses, paramedics, police, pharmacists, teachers, a hairdresser, and even a local builder who generously brought along his excavator – kindly provided free by Prohire in support of our community.

Over two special dress‑up days, students also loved sharing their big dreams about who they hope to be when they grow up!

We are grateful for all who helped make this week so meaningful for our youngest learners.

Stories in the spotlight for Junior School students

Stories in the spotlight for Junior School students

With the weather cooling down as we approach the end of Term 2, our Junior School students have jumped at the opportunity to settle into reading a good story!

During Week 6, K-4 students participated in the annual National Simultaneous Storytime, while the whole of our Junior School had the exciting opportunity to take part in a cosy school-wide reading event the following day.

National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday 27 May at 12:00pm, our Prep and Junior School students joined millions of children, parents, teachers and library lovers across Australia and beyond to read Luna Roo at the same time!

This special event celebrated the joy of reading, storytelling and connection. What a wonderful way to share the wonder of stories together!

Junior School SRC Reading Nook

The Junior School embraced a wonderful celebration of our growing culture and love of reading during our inaugural Reading Nook Afternoon.

Inspired by our Semester 1 SRC team, students arrived with their favourite cosy items and settled into their beautifully arranged classroom spaces, enjoying the chance to relax and escape into a good book.

To make the experience even more special, students were treated to SRC snack packs, which they enjoyed as part of their quiet, comfortable reading time!

Junior School Choir brings joy to St Luke's Village

Junior School Choir brings joy to St Luke's Village

Our Junior School Choir recently had the wonderful opportunity to perform for the residents at the Anglicare St Luke's Retirement Village!

Our students sang beautifully and represented the school with pride, creating a meaningful intergenerational moment that deeply moved the residents. Through their songs, they shared the joy we have in Jesus, and it was special to be able to share this message with all who attended, including residents who may not yet know him.

We were also so proud of our Year 6 students who confidently introduced the songs, demonstrating wonderful leadership and poise.

We are so grateful to the staff at St Luke’s for their warm hospitality and delicious morning tea, and to Mrs Hutton for her fantastic piano playing.

We look forward to visiting again soon, possibly with our amazing dance troupe!
