Year 9 students take to the trails on their Duke of Edinburgh practise hike

In week 2, a group of Year 9 students embarked on a 2-day practise hike for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. Students covered 20km along the loop track from Waterfall to Heathcote, stopping at various lookouts and water holes along the way.

Here's what students had to say about the hike:

"My highlight of the trip was definitely when we went swimming at Karloo pools. It was really fun but super cold too! One thing I learned from my trip was how strong I actually was. I didn't expect to be able to do the whole hike, but I did." - Abigail

"The highlight of the trip was us going to the swimming spots, finding a ball and getting to rest on the train after the 2 day hike. Something I've learned from the trip is not to pack too heavy, pace yourself in walking and pack better and more nutritious foods." - Caleb

The group are now preparing for their qualifying hike in Hornsby at the end of November.
