Try Year 7 Day

Try Year 7 Day

We were really excited to have 61 students and 40 parents join us on Wednesday 16 March for Try Year 7 Day. Our Stage Coordinators, Mr Graham and Miss Roberts, took the opportunity to help our Year 9 and 10 students use their leadership skills to serve. Our College6 students also served our parents by making coffee and biscuits with Mrs Evans.

Our Year 9 students were given an opportunity to give a tour with Mr Hutton and Mrs Meek. They were able to share with the parents during the tour of how much they love the school and the various opportunities offered.

Our Year 10 students spent their first break getting to know the 61 students by speaking and playing with them. They came back in the afternoon to run a devotion with the students at Try Year 7 day by discussing the impact of how Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman from John 4 to coincide with our Kindness week (National Day of Action Against Bullying). We are so proud of how the Year 9 and 10 students served our community.

Here are some Try Year 7 Day reviews  by our current Year 6 students:

'I really enjoyed woodwork with making candle holders with my friends and using the tools. Music was super fun and everyone got along and had fun together. English was fun and we got to be creative. All of the teachers were nice and all the subjects were fun.' Charlotte

'I really liked the woodwork and the sport - it was really fun. I got to meet a lot of people and they seemed nice. I wish we could have done some science on try year seven day but it was still fun. I had a great time, I hope everyone did too, it was a fantastic experience.' Ayokunmi

'I really enjoyed yesterday because it was fun, unexpected and I made some new friends. It was a very fun day for hopefully everyone and I'm guessing everyone that came enjoyed our high school!' Ruby

'I personally think that the Try Year 7 Day was really great. I got to meet a lot of people and I really enjoyed making a candle holder and bucket drumming was also fun. I don't have any suggestions. I think it was perfect.' Alex
