The Primary Numeracy Project

The Primary Numeracy Project

To further enhance the skills of our Junior School teachers and to ensure we are well informed about best teaching practices, the Junior School throughout 2023 will be a part of the Association of Independent Schools' Primary Numeracy Project.

The Primary Numeracy Project is a comprehensive professional learning package designed to support schools with the explicit and systematic teaching of numeracy skills. This year-long professional learning opportunity will provide teachers with:

  • examination of current research and evidence-based teaching practices
  • explicit teaching models through demonstration lessons from the AIS
  • screening resources that identify the strengths and weaknesses of our students
  • illustrations of best practice

Parent Information Mornings

Mrs Henrietta Miller from the AIS Numeracy Project is hoping to present some information sessions for parents. Look out for the expression of interest form in your Signmee for further details and to register your intention to come along. These sessions will give parents a greater understanding of current teaching strategies being employed by our teachers, and provide some helpful tips for supporting students in their numeracy learning at home.

We are excited about this professional learning opportunity and look forward to gaining greater knowlege of, and insight into the teaching of Mathematics.
