During Week 5, Stage 2 students attended an exciting incursion from Ranger Jamie Science Tours, engaging in a whole day of exciting and engaging science displays and activities.
Across the day, students observed chemical reactions in action, including the many exciting effects of liquid nitrogen, before breaking off into rotations and testing first-hand the reaction between vinegar and bi-carb soda, which they used to make their own bottle rockets!
Students also made rockets out of paper, which were launched across the schoolyard using air pressure, and made their own non-newtonian fluid – a fascinating tactile experience!
Capping off the day, students sat in eager anticipation of one final explosive experiment, observing liquid nitrogen in action once again as hundreds of ping-pong balls were launched into the air!
Thank you to Ranger Jamie Science Tours for the engaging, educational visit for our Stage 2 students!
We’re a growing school for a new and growing community.
We run regular tours and open days for parents and students to have a taste of life at Calderwood. We’d love to welcome you to one of them soon!
