Junior School students expand their appetite for reading

Junior School students expand their appetite for reading

During the last week of Term 2, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participated in a 'book tasting' in the Junior School Library, converted into our very own 'Reading Cafe'! This initiative encouraged students to try reading different book genres, and borrowing in the Library experienced an increase as a result!

Students looked at the cover, read the blurb and a couple of pages, and then shared their thoughts about the book and whether they would like to borrow it. After recording at least 4 books, students then chose a book to borrow.

Kindergarten students even had the opportunity to enjoy some outside Library time, reading a selection of books on mats in the winter sun!

Upon reflection at the end of the lessons, students commented on how much they enjoyed our Reading Cafe and looking at different books.
