In Week 2 of Term 3, Years 10 and 11 travelled to the beautiful South Coast for a study camp. Some of the goals for the camp included developing relationships between senior students, building resilience and focus, overcoming challenges and time management.
Climbing Pigeon House Mountain ticked off all of these goals (although Mrs Knight is still working on her time management where hiking is involved); as did the unexpected change to the camp program when the school bus broke down and we needed to shuttle everyone back to camp with the mini-bus. Dinner may have been a ‘little’ late, but it was appreciated and enjoyed by a well deserving group of students.
Day two gave the students opportunity to spend some time reflecting with Mr Graham on setting up good routines and strategies for the HSC, before they ventured off to the beach for some fun and games with Mr Moss.
We were blessed by an available charter bus to pick us up and return everyone safely to school.
The staff who attended the camp were very grateful for the way the students coped with the changes in camp program, and also the way they jumped in and helped where needed. The overall attitude of cooperation and positivity made the camp a great success.
We’re a growing school for a new and growing community.
We run regular tours and open days for parents and students to have a taste of life at Calderwood. We’d love to welcome you to one of them soon!
