A Wrap-Up On Wrap-Up Winter!

A Wrap-Up On Wrap-Up Winter!

On Thursday, June 9, Calderwood Christian School held the 'Wrap-Up Winter Appeal', an initiative of the Junior School SRC.

Students and staff were encouraged to wear a beanie, scarf and gloves to school, and bring a can of soup – rather than a gold coin donation – to donate to the Illawarra Homeless Hub as a form of practical support.

Here's what Year 6 SRC Representatives Jaxson and Gracelyn had to say about the appeal:

"We love and serve a God who has a heart for those in need. We read in Deuteronomy 15:11:

'There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded towards those who are poor and needy in the land.'

We see examples of Jesus caring deeply and coming alongside those who are very needy and poor. But instead of a gold coin donation, we decided to offer practical support. We hope that these cans of soup will be a great blessing to those who receive them."

We're pleased to share that through the kindness and generosity of our school community, our appeal produced 400 cans of soup to donate to the Wollongong Homeless Hub.

We would like to thank thank everyone who generously donated, and hope these cans will be a blessing to those who receive them.
